Because good things come in small packages,Crispin Spaeth Dance Group (CSDG) and Capitol Hill Arts Center (CHAC) are pleased to present “Ten Tiny (Valentine’s) Dances” featuring new work by Seattle choreographers. These short dances are created for a 4’x4’ stage with a new dance every 15 minutes.

An experiment in confined space, Ten Tiny Dances is a performance form dedicated to fostering inventive work in an audience-friendly environment. Ten short dances created expressly for the 4’x4’ stage will be presented throughout the evening, with a new dance beginning every fifteen minutes. This edition of Ten Tiny features a super-powered, all-Seattle lineup, including shiny new talent alongside some of the most accomplished dancemakers in the Pacific Northwest. Featured artists include: Oscar Gutierrez and Giavanna Enriquez, Left Field Revival, Laura Curry and Lori Dillon, Drew Elliott*, Mark Haim, Alex Martin, Mrs. Nellie Murphy**, Megan Murphy, Juliet Waller Pruzan and Stephen Hando, Scott/Powell Performance, and Crispin Spaeth Dance Group. The Producers
CSDG Artistic Director Crispin Spaeth has been creating new dances in Seattle since 1990, including the recent critically acclaimed Dark Room at Western Bridge, and an upcoming performance installation Visible/Audible at the Hedreen Gallery. In addition to its own creative work, CSDG is committed to promoting reckless invention and dialogue among, and to support success for, the vibrant and diverse dance artists of the Pacific Northwest. Origins of Ten Tiny
Ten Tiny Dances is the brainchild of Portland's Mike Barber, who initiated this traveling performance party in 2002. Ten Tiny began as an experiment in confined space, a unique opportunity for dance/performance artists, and a full plate of performance art for a diverse audience. Since then, Barber has produced over a dozen editions in some of Portland's most interesting and trend-setting restaurants, and supported the work of over 50 dance and performance artists in irresistably festive environments. In 2005, Barber expanded the project by producing a two-city exchange with Seattle's CSDG, a successful collaboration which they repeated in 2006. Gifting CSDG the rights to produce Seattle-based editions, Barber continues to produce Ten Tiny shows in Portland, and will be expanding his vision to Chicago and New York over the next two years.
